The “Krew” at Kernel T’s Korn Krib sent me a variety of popped popcorn samples to review. The flavors included Michigan Caramel Crunch (their signature caramel corn), Two Cheesy (white and cheddar cheese), Gramdma’s Old-Fashioned KettleCorn, Kansas City BBQ, Windy City Combo (cheddar and caramel), Hoppin’ Jalapeno, Ragin’ Cajun, and Salt N Vinegar.
I started out with the Michigan Caramel Crunch which was very good compared to a lot of the other caramel popcorn I have tasted and reviewed. I think it could have used a bit more salt, but I tend to over salt just about everything these days. I add kosher salt to the oil when I’m popping my own popcorn on the stove and then I add flavored salts and spices after the popcorn is popped. Using the appropriate amount of seasoning is one of the most important things in cooking.
I really enjoyed all the popcorn flavors from Kernel T’s Korn Krib, especially the Hoppin’ Jalapeno and Ragin’ Cajun. These two were so spicy I decided to mix them with the Two Cheesy and created Hoppin’ Cheesy Jalapeno and Cheesy Rajin’ Cajun. The combined flavors worked really well together.
Be sure to give Kernel T’s Korn Krib a try, especially their spicy flavors.
