Colorado Gourmet Kettle Corn sent me a box that contained four bags of their gourmet kettle popcorn — Kettle Corn, Caramel Apple, Strawberry Lemonade and Grape Bubble Gum. The bags the popcorn came in were similar to the plastic ones you buy at a state fair. There was also no way to reseal the bag — a twist tie would have been a good idea, but as I write this review I think that Colorado Gourmet Kettle Corn has changed their packaging and now use resealable bags. Popcorn is a product that can get stale very quickly and the package it comes in should always be resealable.
I started out by opening and tasting the bag of Kettle Corn. It was very good — it had a mild sweet flavor and was slightly salted and very crunchy. I had a hard time putting it down and I think I ate more than half of the bag in one sitting. All of the popcorn was mushroom shaped and there were no unpopped kernels. However, when I began opening the other bags and tasting them I quickly realized that the flavored kettle popcorn flavors really lacked a lot of flavor. There were some pieces of popcorn that had more flavoring than others, but overall the flavored popcorn was not very tasty.
I am not a big fan of kettle corn to begin with, but I would recommend the regular Kettle Corn from Colorado Gourmet Kettle Corn, but not any of the flavored popcorn. I’m pretty sure the Grape Bubble Gum is a flavor more appealing to kids.
